The annual mid-winter gathering of Northern California Lepidopterists is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Bohart Museum, located in Room 1124 of the Academic Surge Building on Crocker Lane.
Visitors are encouraged to bring specimens, photos, Power Point presentations or slides from collecting trips, and tales of collecting triumphs to share with others. There will be no formal program. There is no charge.
The Rod Davis fritillary collection, courtesy of Chuck Hageman, was added to the museum’s holdings since the group last met in Davis. Jeff Smith, who curates the Bohart's butterfly and moth collection, recently completed integrating it into the section. The museum has also added many more Lepidoptera and other insect specimens from collecting trips in Belize.
Attending lepidopterists may be able to help you identify specimens, and the museum collection will be open for your inspection. Visitors may purchase T-shirts or other entomological merchandise from the museum gift shop during their visit. Profits from these sales provide support for the Bohart Museum and its activities.
