Covering the period 1758 to 1995, it includes not only strictly taxonomic papers but also those dealing with such related fields as ant morphology, phylogeny, biogeography, faunistics, and comparative biology. Each of the 8185 entries in the bibliography has been carefully scrutinized for accuracy of citation, and its date of publication has been determined as precisely as possible.
