Alex Wild's ant research collection
Tangential to my research projects, I maintain a small collection of ants from my travels, research, and assorted specimens given to me by other entomologists. It currently holds about 20,000 specimens and 800 species, both pinned (as above) and in 95% ethanol. The collection is particularly strong in ants from Paraguay, California, Florida, and the northeastern U.S., but coverage includes much of North America, the Caribbean, southern South America, and South Africa. Duplicate material from this collection can also be found in several
major entomological collections, including the Natural
History Museum of Los Angeles, Harvard's Museum
of Comparative Zoology, the Archbold
Biological Station, and the Museo
Nacional de Historia Natural del Paraguay.
