Subject area GRE scores are optional, but can be helpful to the Admissions Committee. You are encouraged to take them.

All foreign students must submit a TOEFL score.

Statement of Purpose
The University Graduate Studies application for admission contains a blank page for your Statement of Purpose. Your Statement of Purpose is one of the most important requirements of your application, and is the key to helping find a Major Professor. (Persons whom you ask for letters of recommendation may find it helpful too.) To help find the right match with a faculty member be sure to draft your Statement of Purpose as carefully and as specifically as you can. Your statement should reflect your experience and interests in the program, it should be well-organized and concise, and most of all it should identify your own research interests. For more experienced students, the statement should also contain specific reference to your experience and results, extracts and publications. Your Statement of Purpose should be the same for both the university Graduate Studies application and the IPM Supplemental Application.

Transcripts
Official transcripts from each college or university attended, including UC Davis, must be forwarded to the Entomology Department office (which handles all of IPM graduate program applicants). A summary of credit transferred from another institution is not acceptable. Official transcripts of all work completed must be received before applications will be considered.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
It is highly recommended that applicants take the GRE (http://www.gre.org) no later than December. The department code for sending scores directly to the Entomology department is (institutional code is 4834 and the departmental code is 0209).

Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required to complete the application for admission. Letters may be from professors or employers who are qualified to evaluate the quality of your scholastic achievements and academic training as well as your ability to carry out independent research. Hard copies are required, but for quicker review an email attachment on letterhead is acceptable.
