Hi E,
Thanks for the note. I hope that your quilt did well in the competition. Regardless of the supposed "amaturishness" of it (I have no idea really), it looks spectacular and is extremely creative. I'm sure you will get some great complements.
I hope that I can get out into the field and do some more field work soon. I still have to go and buy a car. The most frustrating thing is that I can't go and do it myself. I have to have someone (pretty much a guy) come with me. Otherwise, no matter what I say, I will get screwed again.
This is what I hate about ZA. I'm rooming with another American that says the same things. I am soooo dependent on others here. It drives me NUTS!!!
This morning I went running on the Leisbeek River Walk. It was wonderful. All by myself. There were absolutely no white people out and I was just fine. I took a rest at the park, my destination, and sat right in the middle of it. White South Africans have told me not to do this because "berggies" will hide out in the middle of the grass waiting to mug someone. Well, I did it anyway. And I was just fine. I remember looking down at my running shoes, trying to make out what it said on the back of the heel. The impression of the letters in the foam was hard to make out. Did it say freedom? No, just reebok, but I sure felt like those little shoes gave me some freedom today.
Anyway, I've got to call someone to take me out car hunting.
