DAVIS—Researcher Shirley Gee of the Bruce Hammock laboratory, Department of Entomology, will speak on “Immunoassay Methods for Pesticide Exposure Monitoring: Smaller Samples, More Results” from 4 to 5 p.m., Monday, April 7 in 3201 Hart Hall.
The seminar is sponsored by the Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety and is open to the public.
Gee, a senior staff research associate, has worked with Hammock for the past 20 years, leading research on the concept of using immunoassays to detect environmental contaminants. Highly involved in collaborative work to develop rapid biosensor technology based on unique europium oxide nanoparticles, the Hammock laboratory was among the first to explore accelerator mass spectrometry for microdosing and human metabolism studies.
Gee’s work been recognized repeatedly with achievement awards and publications in peer-reviewed journals. She received her bachelor of science degree in biological sciences at UC Davis in 1973 and her master’s degree in pharmacology and toxicology at UC Davis in 1981.
See Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety Center for list of seminar speakers and other information.
