Emergency Evacuation Plans
You need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to use these PDF files.
The safe and timely evacuation of a building in an emergency is an important part of the Entomology Emergency Action Plan. Please refer to Appendix III of the Entomology IIPP document and become familiar with the overall Building Evacuation Plan for the department, as well as the floor plan(s) for the building(s) in which you work. The other part of Appendix III that you should review is the Emergency Procedures Plan. This section describes the procedures to follow for various emergency situations [ fire, earthquake, medical, etc. ] that you may encounter. The Building Evacuation Plan is the same for all units of the Department of Entomology, with only the floor plan evacuation routes differing for each specific work area. Appendix III contains floor plans for each building in which Entomology personnel are currently located. Print the appropriate floor plan from Appendix III and follow the instructions to create an evacuation plan specific to your work area. You must place these plans with your safety documents and include a review of them as part of your Safety Training and Orientation. A copy of the floor plan showing evacuation routes from your work area must be posted next to each exit. Each employee should read the Evacuation Plan Employee Guidelines. It is recommended that you review the Building Evacuation Plan annually in a Laboratory Safety Meeting. Each Principle Investigator must designate a person to be the Safety Contact for their work area [the PI will be the Safety Contact if no other person is designated as such]. In the event of an evacuation, it is the responsibility of the Safety Contact to determine who was present in their work area at the time the alarm sounded, and to report to the person responsible for roll call at their Building Assembly Area the name(s) of anyone who was present in the work area when the alarm sounded but who is not present at the Building Assembly Area. This function of the Safety Contact is especially important because of the nature of our department where people may be in the field, at class or in meetings and it will be impossible for the person taking roll call to know who is in any given work area at any given time.
Below is a list of all the documents mentioned here and others you will need for your Safety Program. Please click each link and print out the PDF forms for your records.
