Pesticides may only be used in accordance with State regulations. The Agricultural Commissions Office of the county where the pesticide is to be applied is the agency responsible for enforcing these regulations [The Yolo County Agricultural Commissioner, http://www.yolocounty.org ,for Davis Campus.] You must obtain a license specific to the chemicals that you intend to use. You must also have:

You must submit a Notice of Intent to the County 24 hours before you use pesticides and make the appropriate "Reentry" postings. Each month that you use pesticides you must submit a "Monthly Summary of Pesticide Report" for each County where you used pesticides. Monthly Summary of Pesticide Report forms can be obtained from the County. The employer must provide safety training for employees as well as the appropriate personal protective equipment for each.

All pesticides must be stored in an approved Pesticide Storage Area until they are used. The Department of Entomology has a locker in the Agricultural Services Pesticide Storage Facility. Pesticides stored in our locker must have a label that identifies the person who purchased the item and the date it was purchased. All items must be entered into the pesticide inventory that is maintained by Dr. Larry Godfrey [ldgodfrey@ucdavis.edu]. Pesticides may not be dispensed, mixed or stored in any kind of food container! Pesticides may not be transported in personal vehicles of inside the passenger compartment. Pesticides must be disposed as Hazardous Waste [See EH&S Hazardous Waste Disposal] under the same rules regarding the disposal of other types of chemicals.

Problems with pests in and around Briggs Hall or other facilities should be reported to the Custodial Service, 752-1831.
