Entomology and Nematology Department Safety Program

The Department of Entomology and Nematology, pursuant to State law, has instituted an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), an Emergency Action and Evacuation Plan (EAP), and a Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP). Together with individual safety training for all employees these three documents make up the backbone of the Entomology and Nematology Department's safety program. This program was created to mitigate health and safety related problems associated with the work place.

It is the Department's responsibility to provide a safe working environment for all employees. Furthermore, the Department is required to provide access to health and safety information to all employees so they can perform their jobs in a safe manner. It is the employee's responsibility to complete all required safety training, notify the employer of any injuries or illnesses in a timely manner, notify the department of any hazardous or unsafe conditions so they can be addressed, and follow all applicable rules or guidelines in the work place. The information contained on this and all subsequent safety pages were designed to help staff, faculty, students comply with these responsibilities and promote a culture of safety within our department.
