Molecular geneticist and physiologist Joanna Chiu, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology--and internationally recognized for her research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate circadian and seasonal biology and on invasive species genomics--will be celebrated as a newly selected Fellow at the Entomological Society of America (ESA) plenary session on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The Ecological Society of America (ESA) recently spotlighted bumble bee research from the laboratory of pollinator ecologist Neal Williams, a professor in the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology.

Postdoctoral scholar Angie Lenard of the University of Nevada, Reno, will speak on "Insects in Human-Modified Environments" at the next UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology seminar, set for 4:10 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13 in Room 122 Briggs Hall. UC Davis scientists established a major presence at the 27th International Congress of Entomology (ICE2024), a weeklong conference in Kyoto, Japan that drew more than 4000 researchers from 82 countries. 

ICE2024, themed “New Discoveries Through Consilience,” included plenary lectures, symposia and posters, with science shared, science learned and friendships made.  ICE meets every four years in a different country.
