Molecular geneticist and physiologist Joanna Chiu, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology--and internationally recognized for her research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate circadian and seasonal biology and on invasive species genomics--will be celebrated as a newly selected Fellow at the Entomological Society of America (ESA) plenary session on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Carla-Cristina “CC” Edwards, a second-year doctoral student in the lab of UC Davis medical entomologist-geneticist Geoffrey Attardo, is the newly elected chair of the Young Professionals (YPs) of the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA). 

Molecular geneticist- physicist Joanna Chiu, professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology, took home one of the highest academic awards presented at the recent meeting of the Pacific Branch, Entomological Society of America, held in the city of Waikoloa Beach, Hawaii. 

Her award: the Distinction in Student Mentoring Award.
